Windscreen Replacement FAQ's
  • Generally if your windscreen has a chip larger than a $2 coin, you will need to replace it. If it is smaller, we may be able to repair it. Our experienced technicians will let you know when they arrive if it is repairable and if so will do this in the first instance.
  • If you have multiple chips it may be more cost effective and safer to replace your windscreen.
  • If you have a crack (which is very different to a chip) you will need to replace your windscreen.
  • If the chip is larger that a $1 coin in the CVA (Critical Vision Area) which is located directly in front of the drivers line of sight it will need to be replaced as your vehicle may not pass its next WOF and may also impair your visibility of the road when repaired.
  • Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, most windscreen replacements will take less than 60 minutes to complete. However we do recommend to give up to 2 hours just in case anything unforeseen happens.
  • Your vehicle is safe to drive 1 hour after the windscreen is replaced. Our technician will communicate what time that is once they have finished the replacement.

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance System and is a range of systems that assist in vehicle safety. When replacing your windscreen we are talking about a camera that sits on the windscreen of your vehicle. It is designed to provide alerts and enhanced assistance to the driver, increasing vehicle and cabin safety.

If your vehicle is equipped with a rain sensor, it will be attached to the windscreen. The rain sensor is activated by a button or switch from within the cabin of your vehicle. When it senses rain droplets/water on your windscreen,  it activates the wipers to ensure you maintain clear visibility of the road.

There are many different shapes and sizes of rain sensors so if your not sure if your vehicle has one, get in touch with one of our friendly team.

  • The cost of windscreen replacement varies widely based on the make and model of your vehicle as well as what other advanced diver-assistance systems (ADAS) sensors your windscreen may need to have attached to it. Other FAQ's
  • This depends on your vehicle insurance policy and whether it has full glass coverage or glass replacement with excess.
    • Most insurance companies with glass coverage waive the excess and don’t even count glass repairs as a claim, so you don’t have to pay a thing and you won’t have your “no claims bonus” affected.
    • However if your insurance includes an excess for glass replacement you will be responsible for paying the excess amount and your insurance provider will be responsible for anything over the excess amount. Before getting  any repairs or replacements completed, get in touch with us and we’ll help verify your coverage as per your insurance policy so you don’t have any surprises at the end.
  • Of course we can. If your insurance policy doesn’t cover auto glass, or maybe you don’t have insurance you can pay us directly for your auto glass repair/ replacement. We offer competitive pricing and accept cash, eftpos, debit, credit, winz quotes and laybuy to make payment as easy as possible and work for you.
  • We usually can repair or replace your windscreen within 3 working days from the time you contact us, if this timeframe differs we will let you know.
  • We don’t charge any extras for our mobile service and our auto glass technician can come to wherever your vehicle is. So, no matter if your at home, work, the gym, etc, we can get your car back safely on the road at a time that is mutually agreed.
  • You can do this easily by giving us a call or sending us a text to 0221870465 or fill in our online quote form above and we’ll come back to you asap.
