Windscreen Recalibration FAQ's
- Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, most windscreen recalibrations will take less than 60 minutes to complete depending on whether we use our mobile equipment on site or whether we need to drive your vehicle to complete the calibration.
The ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance System is designed to provide alerts and enhance driver and cabin safety of the vehicle. When a windscreen is replaced the position of the camera can change and millimetres of change in this position can mean over a distance in front of the vehicle that the sight of the camera can be out by centimetres or even metres in some cases depending on the function of the ADAS system. This is why we recommend to have the system recalibrated to ensure those safety features work as designed and make your vehicle safer on the road.
This can mean a number of things.
- Firstly if you have had your windscreen replaced and it has an ADAS system or camera on it which has not been recalibrated this light will stay on to notify you that it needs to be recalibrated in order for the safety functions of the device to do what the manufacturer has specified.
- It could also be that you have a chip on your windscreen in the area of the camera. If this is the case contact us and we can see if we can repair the chip and clear this error or whether a replacement is recommended.
- Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, most windscreen recalibrations will take less than 60 minutes to complete depending on whether we use our mobile equipment on site or whether we need to drive your vehicle to complete the calibration.
- If we are recalibrating your windscreen only, the vehicle will be ready to drive straight away.
- If your windscreen is replaced by us, and we use our equipment on site to complete the calibration, you will be able to drive the vehicle after 1 hour after we replace the windscreen.
- If your windscreen is replaced by us, and we have to drive your vehicle to recalibrate it, it will be ready for you to drive once we have completed the recalibration.
Depending on the make/model of your vehicle and the time it takes to recalibrate your ADAS system prices can vary quite a bit . You can get a quote by filling in our online free quote form, or by giving us a call or sending us a text.
Other FAQ's
- This depends on your vehicle insurance policy and whether it has full glass coverage or glass replacement with excess.
- Most insurance companies with glass coverage waive the excess and don’t even count glass repairs as a claim, so you don’t have to pay a thing and you won’t have your “no claims bonus” affected.
- However if your insurance includes an excess for glass replacement you will be responsible for paying the excess amount and your insurance provider will be responsible for anything over the excess amount. Before getting any repairs or replacements completed, get in touch with us and we’ll help verify your coverage as per your insurance policy so you don’t have any surprises at the end.
- Of course we can. If your insurance policy doesn’t cover auto glass, or maybe you don’t have insurance you can pay us directly for your auto glass repair/ replacement. We offer competitive pricing and accept cash, eftpos, debit, credit, winz quotes and laybuy to make payment as easy as possible and work for you.
- We usually can repair or replace your windscreen within 3 working days from the time you contact us, if this timeframe differs we will let you know.
- We don’t charge any extras for our mobile service and our auto glass technician can come to wherever your vehicle is. So, no matter if your at home, work, the gym, etc, we can get your car back safely on the road at a time that is mutually agreed.
- You can do this easily by giving us a call or sending us a text to 0221870465 or fill in our online quote form and we’ll come back to you asap.
- Your safety is our top priority and all repairs must be completed under the standard AS/NZ 2366.1:1999. We use quality glass, moulding, urethanes and other installation materials to reinforce and secure your windscreen safely, preserving the structural integrity of your vehicle.
