JAG Windscreen Recalibration

If your windscreen has a camera on it, your vehicle is equipped with an ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance System. This is designed to provide the driver with enhanced alerts and features to improve cabin and vehicle safety.
When your windscreen is replaced you will need to have the camera recalibrated as when the new screen is installed - we are unable to guarantee the camera is sitting in the exact same spot it was before. This is a crucial part of replacing your windscreen as the manufacturer has guidelines as to the vision of the camera and its optimum operating dimensions. If the camera position moves millimetres, this can translate to a larger area when the camera throw hits the road, so you may be closer than you think and the sensors may not go off as they were designed. This is why we highly recommend you have your windscreen recalibrated at the time of replacement and we can help you get that sorted.
If you have had your vehicle windscreen replaced by another repairer we can still help you by recalibrating your windscreen for you. We offer a mobile service, however there are some requirements on the space we use to recalibrate your vehicle but we can work through these with you when you contact us.

Windscreen Recalibration FAQ's

If you have any of the following from the image below on your windscreen. Your vehicle is highly likely equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System).

  • Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, most windscreen recalibrations will take less than 60 minutes to complete depending on whether we use our mobile equipment on site or whether we need to drive your vehicle to complete the recalibration.

The ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance System is designed to provide alerts and enhance driver and cabin safety of the vehicle. When a windscreen is replaced the position of the camera can change by millimetres. However millimetres of change in this position can mean the sight of the camera can be out by centimetres or even metres in some cases depending on the function of the ADAS system. This is why we recommend to have the system recalibrated to ensure those safety features work as designed and ensure your vehicle is safer on the road.

This can mean a number of things.

  • Firstly if you have had your windscreen replaced and it has an ADAS system or camera on it which has not been recalibrated this light will stay on to notify you that it needs to be recalibrated in order for the safety functions of the device to do what the manufacturer has specified.
  • It could also be that you have a chip on your windscreen in the area of the camera. If this is the case contact us and we can see if we can repair the chip and clear this error or whether a replacement is recommended.
  • If we are recalibrating your windscreen only, the vehicle will be ready to drive straight away.
  • If your windscreen is replaced by us, and we use our equipment on site to complete the recalibration, you will be able to drive the vehicle after 1 hour following the replacement of the screen.
  • If your windscreen is replaced by us, and we have to drive your vehicle to recalibrate it, it will be ready for you to drive once we have completed the recalibration.

Depending on the make/model of your vehicle and the time it takes to recalibrate your ADAS system prices can vary quite a bit . You can get a quote by filling in our online free quote form, or by giving us a call or sending us a text.

Other FAQ's
  • This depends on your vehicle insurance policy and whether it has full glass coverage or glass replacement with excess. If you have windscreen cover, it usually covers recalibration of the windscreen when completed by the same company.
    • Most insurance companies with glass coverage waive the excess and don’t even count glass repairs as a claim, so you don’t have to pay a thing and you won’t have your “no claims bonus” affected.
    • However if your insurance includes an excess for glass replacement you will be responsible for paying the excess amount and your insurance provider will be responsible for anything over the excess amount. Before getting  any repairs or replacements completed, get in touch with us and we’ll help verify your coverage as per your insurance policy so you don’t have any surprises at the end.
  •  If you need your windscreen recalibrated on its own you may need to check with your insurance provider to ensure they cover this separately to your glass cover policy.
  • Of course we can. If your insurance policy doesn’t cover auto glass, or maybe you don’t have insurance you can pay us directly for your auto glass repair/ replacement. We offer competitive pricing and accept cash, eftpos, debit, credit, winz quotes and laybuy to make payment as easy as possible and work for you.
  • We usually can recalibrate your windscreen within 3 working days from the time you contact us, if this time frame differs we will let you know.
  • We don’t charge any extras for our mobile service and our auto glass technician can come to wherever your vehicle is. So, no matter if you’re at home, work, the gym, etc, we can get your car back safely on the road at a time that is mutually agreed.
  • You can do this easily by giving us a call or sending us a text to 0221870465 or fill in our online quote form above and we’ll come back to you asap.
